About the Project

Funded by Denver Arts & Venues via the P.S.You Are Here (PSYAH) grant program, Powered by Heritage is a community art project that celebrates the rich history and cultural heritage of Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe and the La Alma Lincoln Park neighborhood. For the creation of six new murals along Santa Fe Drive, we recruited six local Chicanx and Indigenous artists to tell the stories of residents past and present, highlighting the people and communities that define this neighborhood—especially when so many are at risk of displacement.

The six installations include textile, sculpture, and photography printed on vinyl as well as three new murals, all installed on public utility boxes along Santa Fe Drive between 7th and 12th avenues. Powered by Heritage highlights our local cultural history and celebrates the talent and lived experience of six artists who identify as Latinx, Chicano, and/or Indigenous: Anthony Maes, Cal Duran, Molly Gallegos, Diego Florez, Jay Jaramillo and Cindy Loya.
