Reverse Appliqué Sewing Technique with Rebecca Peebles

  • ReCreative Denver 765 Santa Fe Drive Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

14+ | $125

Character Appliqué and Reverse! Join instructor Rebecca Peebles learn the basics of this ornamental needlework to apply your own patterns, symbols and pictures to fabric surfaces. We'll start with a simple shape to learn technique and then design something larger like a pillow-case, garment-patch or wall art. Appliqué technique has been used worldwide in textile story-telling such as the Mesoamerican's Kuna tribe's famous Mola (mythical storytelling with magical creatures), Benin, Africa's Fon tribe's funerary memorials depicting a beloved's life and achievements, and so many more examples from all over time and geography. Humans love textiles imbued with personal and universal meaning!

If you are interested in hand-sewing and adding charming character details into your life surroundings, come join us for a few evenings of learning and stitching. This workshop consists of 2 evening sessions so that you will have a session to learn, then time to practice and work. The second follow-up session explores finishing technique, trouble-shooting unique problems, or even starting a new project to be finished on your own.
